Computed with the same four public criteria as every profile. The human-evidence grade on an indexed profile is set automatically and may change when it is hand-reviewed. It is not a safety score, not a purity rating, and not medical advice, and not a claim that this compound treats, cures, or prevents any condition.
What it is
Angiotensin II is a naturally occurring eight amino acid peptide hormone that is part of the body's renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. It raises blood pressure mainly by binding AT1 receptors, which narrows blood vessels and promotes aldosterone and vasopressin release. A synthetic version is sold as the prescription drug Giapreza.
What the evidence shows
Giapreza is FDA approved for increasing blood pressure in adults with septic or other distributive shock, given in hospital settings, based on randomized trial data. It is heavily studied, with hundreds of registered human trials, but uses outside its approved indication are less established.
