Computed with the same four public criteria as every profile. The human-evidence grade on an indexed profile is set automatically and may change when it is hand-reviewed. It is not a safety score, not a purity rating, and not medical advice, and not a claim that this compound treats, cures, or prevents any condition.
What it is
Desmopressin is a synthetic peptide modeled on the natural hormone vasopressin (antidiuretic hormone). It acts mainly on V2 receptors in the kidney to reduce urine production, and it also raises blood levels of clotting factor VIII and von Willebrand factor.
What the evidence shows
It is FDA-approved, with various products approved for central diabetes insipidus, primary nocturnal enuresis, nocturia due to nocturnal polyuria, and certain cases of hemophilia A and von Willebrand disease. It is supported by a large body of human research, including 126 registered trials reaching Phase 4 and thousands of published papers, and low blood sodium is a well-documented risk.
