Efpeglenatide
InvestigationalGLP-1 receptor agonist
A real evidence base, with gaps
- Regulatory standing. In clinical trials, not yet approved
- Limited human data. Some human data exists, not conclusive
- Registered human trials. 5 registered studies on ClinicalTrials.gov, most advanced Phase 3
- No sources. Nothing cited to verify
Computed with the same four public criteria as every profile. The human-evidence grade on an indexed profile is set automatically and may change when it is hand-reviewed. It is not a safety score, not a purity rating, and not medical advice, and not a claim that this compound treats, cures, or prevents any condition.
What it is
Efpeglenatide is an investigational long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist, a modified exendin-4 peptide attached to an antibody fragment to extend how long it stays in the body. Like other drugs in this class, it is thought to act on GLP-1 receptors to increase insulin release when glucose is high, slow stomach emptying, and reduce appetite.
What the evidence shows
It has been studied in human trials up to Phase 3, including in type 2 diabetes, with published reports on blood sugar and cardiovascular outcomes, but it is not FDA-approved for any use. The human evidence is meaningful for an investigational drug, though its development and regulatory path remain incomplete.
