Computed with the same four public criteria as every profile. The human-evidence grade on an indexed profile is set automatically and may change when it is hand-reviewed. It is not a safety score, not a purity rating, and not medical advice, and not a claim that this compound treats, cures, or prevents any condition.
What it is
Histrelin is a synthetic peptide analog of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), delivered as a long-acting subdermal implant. With continuous exposure it is thought to overstimulate and then desensitize GnRH receptors in the pituitary, lowering release of LH and FSH and in turn reducing sex hormone production.
What the evidence shows
Histrelin is FDA-approved as Supprelin LA for central precocious puberty in children, and the Vantas implant was previously approved for palliative treatment of advanced prostate cancer. Its effects are supported by registered human trials up to Phase 3 and over a hundred published papers, while uses outside approved indications are not established.
