Computed with the same four public criteria as every profile. The human-evidence grade on an indexed profile is set automatically and may change when it is hand-reviewed. It is not a safety score, not a purity rating, and not medical advice, and not a claim that this compound treats, cures, or prevents any condition.
What it is
Insulin lispro is a modified form of human insulin in which two amino acids near the end of the B chain are swapped, which helps it absorb from under the skin faster than regular human insulin. Like the body's own insulin, it lowers blood sugar by helping cells take up glucose and by reducing glucose release from the liver.
What the evidence shows
Insulin lispro is FDA-approved for improving blood sugar control in adults and children with diabetes mellitus, sold under brands such as Humalog, Admelog, and Lyumjev. Its effects are well established through hundreds of registered human trials, including Phase 4 studies, and a large published literature.
