Computed with the same four public criteria as every profile. The human-evidence grade on an indexed profile is set automatically and may change when it is hand-reviewed. It is not a safety score, not a purity rating, and not medical advice, and not a claim that this compound treats, cures, or prevents any condition.

What it is

Ixazomib, sold as Ninlaro, is an oral boronic acid based dipeptide that reversibly inhibits the proteasome, the cell machinery that breaks down unneeded proteins. Blocking the proteasome causes damaging proteins to build up in cancer cells, particularly myeloma cells, which can lead to their death.

What the evidence shows

Automatic summaryHuman trials

Ixazomib is FDA approved for use in combination with lenalidomide and dexamethasone to treat multiple myeloma in adults who have received at least one prior therapy. It has been studied in 163 registered human trials up to Phase 4, and uses outside its approved indication remain investigational.
