Computed with the same four public criteria as every profile. The human-evidence grade on an indexed profile is set automatically and may change when it is hand-reviewed. It is not a safety score, not a purity rating, and not medical advice, and not a claim that this compound treats, cures, or prevents any condition.
What it is
Lanreotide is a synthetic cyclic peptide that mimics the natural hormone somatostatin. It binds mainly to somatostatin receptors 2 and 5, which reduces the release of growth hormone and several gut hormones and can slow the growth of certain neuroendocrine tumors.
What the evidence shows
Lanreotide is FDA-approved for acromegaly, gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, and carcinoid syndrome, supported by more than 100 registered human trials reaching Phase 4 and over 1,200 published papers. Uses outside these approved indications are less well established.
