Computed with the same four public criteria as every profile. The human-evidence grade on an indexed profile is set automatically and may change when it is hand-reviewed. It is not a safety score, not a purity rating, and not medical advice, and not a claim that this compound treats, cures, or prevents any condition.
What it is
Macimorelin is a small peptidomimetic compound, sold as Macrilen, that is taken by mouth and activates the ghrelin receptor (growth hormone secretagogue receptor). This stimulates the pituitary gland to release growth hormone, and the size of that response is measured in blood samples.
What the evidence shows
Macimorelin is FDA approved for use as a diagnostic test for adult growth hormone deficiency, supported by Phase 3 trials among 6 registered human studies. It is not approved as a treatment for any condition, and evidence for other uses is not established.
