Computed with the same four public criteria as every profile. The human-evidence grade on an indexed profile is set automatically and may change when it is hand-reviewed. It is not a safety score, not a purity rating, and not medical advice, and not a claim that this compound treats, cures, or prevents any condition.
What it is
Motixafortide, sold as Aphexda, is a synthetic cyclic peptide that blocks the CXCR4 receptor. CXCR4 and its signal CXCL12 help keep blood-forming stem cells anchored in the bone marrow, so blocking this interaction is thought to release those cells into the bloodstream where they can be collected.
What the evidence shows
It is FDA approved for use with filgrastim to mobilize hematopoietic stem cells for collection and later autologous transplantation in adults with multiple myeloma. Other uses, such as in cancers like pancreatic cancer, have been studied in a small number of trials but are not established.
