A real evidence base, with gaps

- Limited human data. Some human data exists, not conclusive
- Registered human trials. 53 registered studies on ClinicalTrials.gov, most advanced Phase 4
- 1 cited source. Includes primary / regulatory sources
Computed with the same four public criteria as every profile. The human-evidence grade on an indexed profile is set automatically and may change when it is hand-reviewed. It is not a safety score, not a purity rating, and not medical advice, and not a claim that this compound treats, cures, or prevents any condition.
What it is
Orforglipron (LY3502970) is an investigational, non-peptide small molecule developed by Eli Lilly that activates the GLP-1 receptor and is designed to be taken by mouth. Like other GLP-1 receptor agonists, it is thought to act on appetite, gastric emptying, and insulin release after meals.
What the evidence shows
It has been studied in a substantial number of registered human trials, including large late-stage trials in type 2 diabetes and obesity that reported reductions in blood sugar and body weight, but it is not FDA-approved for any use. Long-term safety and outcome data are still being gathered, and the listing of a Phase 4 trial is unusual for an unapproved drug and may reflect a registry labeling quirk.
