Pemvidutide
InvestigationalGLP-1/glucagon dual agonist
Also known as: ALT-801
A real evidence base, with gaps
- Regulatory standing. In clinical trials, not yet approved
- Limited human data. Some human data exists, not conclusive
- Registered human trials. 8 registered studies on ClinicalTrials.gov, most advanced Phase 3
- No sources. Nothing cited to verify
Computed with the same four public criteria as every profile. The human-evidence grade on an indexed profile is set automatically and may change when it is hand-reviewed. It is not a safety score, not a purity rating, and not medical advice, and not a claim that this compound treats, cures, or prevents any condition.
What it is
Pemvidutide, also known as ALT-801, is an investigational peptide developed by Altimmune that activates both the GLP-1 receptor and the glucagon receptor. The GLP-1 activity is thought to reduce appetite and support blood sugar control, while the glucagon activity is thought to increase energy expenditure and reduce fat in the liver.
What the evidence shows
Pemvidutide is not FDA-approved. There are 8 registered human trials, with the most advanced listed at Phase 3, and about 15 published papers, including early trial results in obesity and fatty liver disease, but long-term efficacy and safety in humans have not been established.
