Computed with the same four public criteria as every profile. The human-evidence grade on an indexed profile is set automatically and may change when it is hand-reviewed. It is not a safety score, not a purity rating, and not medical advice, and not a claim that this compound treats, cures, or prevents any condition.
What it is
Petrelintide, also known as ZP8396, is an investigational synthetic peptide designed to mimic amylin, a hormone released from the pancreas alongside insulin. It is engineered to last longer in the body than natural amylin and is thought to act on amylin receptors in the brain to increase feelings of fullness and slow stomach emptying. It is being developed mainly as a potential treatment for obesity and weight management.
What the evidence shows
Petrelintide is not FDA-approved, and its human evidence comes from a small number of registered trials (9, with the most advanced listed as Phase 3) and about 6 published papers. Early studies have reported effects on body weight and tolerability, but its long-term effectiveness and safety in humans have not been established.
