Computed with the same four public criteria as every profile. The human-evidence grade on an indexed profile is set automatically and may change when it is hand-reviewed. It is not a safety score, not a purity rating, and not medical advice, and not a claim that this compound treats, cures, or prevents any condition.
What it is
Pramlintide is a synthetic version of amylin, a hormone released by the pancreas alongside insulin. It is thought to act by slowing stomach emptying, reducing the post-meal rise in glucagon, and promoting a feeling of fullness, which together help limit blood sugar spikes after meals.
What the evidence shows
Pramlintide is FDA approved for use with mealtime insulin in adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who have not reached blood sugar goals with insulin alone, supported by 64 registered human trials reaching Phase 4. Uses outside this approved indication are not established.
