Computed with the same four public criteria as every profile. The human-evidence grade on an indexed profile is set automatically and may change when it is hand-reviewed. It is not a safety score, not a purity rating, and not medical advice, and not a claim that this compound treats, cures, or prevents any condition.
What it is
Sincalide is a synthetic version of the C-terminal octapeptide of cholecystokinin (CCK-8), a natural gut hormone. It acts on cholecystokinin receptors to make the gallbladder contract and to stimulate pancreatic enzyme secretion. It is used as a diagnostic aid rather than as an ongoing treatment.
What the evidence shows
Sincalide is FDA approved as Kinevac for diagnostic use, including stimulating gallbladder contraction during imaging, stimulating pancreatic secretion for analysis, and speeding transit of barium through the small bowel. Uses outside these diagnostic indications are not established, though it has been studied in about 10 registered trials and over 100 published papers.
